Frankincense

Frankincense is an aromatic resin obtained from trees of the genus Boswellia.  There are various species of frankincense trees, each producing a slightly different type of resin. Differences in soil and climate create even more diversity of the resin, even within the same species.

Frankincense trees are also considered unusual for their ability to grow in unforgiving environments, some of it can even grow directly out of solid rock. Frankincense is also popular in perfume industry for their fragrant aroma.

Frankincense essential oil also has been clinically researched to combat cancer and for use as an antidepressant, it soothes and calm the mind, slowing down and deepening breathing and is excellent for use when meditating. Frankicense is commonly used in European hospitals. Frankincense is being researched for its ability to simulate human growth hormone production and to assist in hormone balance.

Eucalyptus, cold and cough remedies

Eucalyptus is a diverse genus of flowering trees in the myrtle family, Myrtaceae.There are more than 700 species of Eucalyptus, native from Australia.

Eucalyptus leaves are leathery in texture, hang obliquely or vertically, and are studded with glands containing a fragrant volatile oil. The flowers in bud are covered with a cup-like membrane, that’s the why the name of the genus, derived from the Greek eucalyptus means  “well-covered”,  which is thrown off as a lid when the flower expands. The fruit is surrounded by a woody, cupshaped receptacle and contains numerous minute seeds.

Eucalyptus oil is one of the most widely used essential oils in aromatherapy. Eucalyptus oil is known for its anti bacterial properties, it is a perfect oil to make an antibacteria deodorant.

Cypress, ideal toner

Cypress, is a species native to the eastern Mediterranean region, in northeast Libya, southeast Greece, Southern Turkey, Cyprus, western Syria, Lebanon, Israel and western Jordan, and also a disjunct population in Iran. It is known by many common names which include; Common Cypress, Italian Cypress, Graveyard Cypress, Tuscan Cypress, Funeral Cypress, Pencil Pine or Spanish Cypress.

It is a medium-sized evergreen tree to 35 m tall, with a conic crown with level branches and variably loosely hanging branchlets[1]. It is very long-lived, with some trees reported to be over 1,000 years old.

The foliage grows in dense sprays, dark green in colour. The leaves are scale-like, 2-5 mm long, and produced on rounded (not flattened) shoots. The seed cones are ovoid or oblong, 25-40 mm long, with 10-14 scales, green at first, maturing brown about 20–24 months after pollination. The male cones are 3-5 mm long, and release pollen in late winter.

The Latin name “sempervirens” can be divided into two parts “semper” - always or ever and “virens” - green. Thus the term can be translated as “evergreen”.

Moisturising Oil for Acne

Recipe for Moisturising oil for Acne:

2 tsp Hazelnut Oil

1 tsp Jojoba oil

1/4 wheatgerm oil

6 drops Rosemary essential oil

2 drops Bergamot essential oil

2 drops Cedarwood essential oil

2 drops Tea Tree essential oil

400 IU’s Vitamin E (optional)

Put all the above into an amber glass bottle, shake well to mix. Apply daily after cleans and toner. Avoid eye area.
