Different Uses of Aromatherapy Essential Oils
AROMATHERAPY is one of the most ancient healing methods, and is the science of utilising aromatic essences extracted from plants for health and healing purpose. The natural essences are used to balance and harmonise the energies within us,promoting the health of our body, mind and spirit. Aromatherapy become very popular nowsaday, because it is very simple, fun and therapeutically beneficial.
There are a lot of ways which we can practice in using essential oils. Here are a few ways for you to get started. These methods are intended as guidelines only, and you do need to pay special attention to all safety and precautions when applying essential oils.
Easy Inhalation
This is the most simple way to use essential oils. Simply choose the essential oils of your favarate, place 3~4 drops on a tissue or cotton ball. Place it under your pillow or at the room’s coners. If you worry about sensitivity or reaction to the oils, start practice with single drop.
Steam Inhalation
Add two drops of essential oil to a bowl of steaming water. Covering your head and bowl of water with a towel, inhale the healing vapours.Steam inhalation can help with colds and influenza. Use of energizing or relaxing oils can also make this method useful any time of day or night.
Refreshing Spray
Add a few drops of your favourate oil to water in a spray bottle and use as an air freshener.
Candle Diffusers
A candle diffuser is a diffuser that utilizes a tea light or other candle to gently heat the essential oil to promote diffusion into a room. A candle diffuser is usually ceramic or metal. The diffuser has an opening or space for a candle and a little bowl or tray for storing a tiny quantity of essential oil. Candle diffusers come in many shapes and colors from the modest functional piece to the piece that acts both as a work of art and as a candle diffuser.
Aromatherapy Massage
Add up to 20 drops of essential oil to 1 ounce carrier oil such as sweet almond oil and massage onto yourself or partner. Keep away from eyes and genital areas. Do not apply essential oils to the skin without first diluting them. Be sure to also read the safety data for the essential oils you choose to use.For tired aching muscles or arthritis aches, mix 1 part Cinnamon, Sage and Basil oil to 4 parts Sweet Almond or other vegetable oil and use as a massage oil.
Bath
Add 5-7 drops essential oil to 1 ounce carrier oil. Add this blend to your running bath water and mix well before getting into the tub. Be sure to read the safety data for the essential oils you choose to use.
Bug Repellent
Many essential oils including citronella, lavender, and peppermint act as a natural repellent against insects. Sprinkle a few drops of essential oil onto tissues or cotton balls and place near your doorways and windows to help repel insects. Be sure to read all safety data on the oils you use as some oils may not be suitable for use around pets. Be careful not to apply the essential oil directly onto fragile surfaces.
General Household Freshening
Add a few drops of oil to your trash can, laundry wash, drain, vacuum bag filter, or on a tissue for placement in your drawers.
